Recently, the Third Cementing Team of the Cementing Division of Zhongyuan Petroleum Engineering Company completed a cementing operation on well TP360 in the Northwest Oilfield, achieving a cementing depth of 6,963 meters in the production layer. Since the beginning of this year, the team has carried out cementing operations on 24 deep and ultra-deep wells in the Northwest Oilfield. From 2016 to date, the Cementing Division has completed cementing operations on 213 exploration and production wells in the Northwest Oilfield, with a qualification rate of 99.99%.

The oil and gas wells in the Northwest Oilfield have depths ranging from 6,000 meters to 8,200 meters, with bottomhole temperatures between 150°C and 180°C. The temperature difference between the upper and lower sections exceeds 40°C. In the lower sections of deep wells, due to the extremely high temperatures, cement slurry tends to solidify into cement stone within the casing, making it difficult to return to the surface. To address this issue, the company’s technical staff added high-temperature retarders and high-temperature fluid-loss reducers to the cement slurry, thereby formulating an ultra-high-temperature cement slurry system that effectively prevents premature thickening and solidification of the slurry.

In the Northwest Oilfield, most of the oil and gas reservoirs are located in the Ordovician formation. Faced with well sections prone to leakage due to developed fractures, the company’s technical staff added an admixture to the cement slurry to formulate an ultra-low-density cement slurry, thereby ensuring reliable sealing performance. To address the issue of extremely high friction in cement slurries used for cementing highly inclined wells, small-diameter wells, and horizontal sections of oil and gas wells, the technical staff adjusted the composition of the cement slurry to ensure smooth flow.

Currently, the company has successfully developed five categories of cement slurry additives, including controllable gelling agents, medium-temperature fluid-loss reducers, high-temperature fluid-loss reducers, medium-temperature set-retarding agents, and high-temperature set-retarding agents. Additionally, the company has established eight specialized cement slurry systems, such as ultra-high-temperature cement slurries, ultra-high-density cement slurries, elastomeric cement slurries, and corrosion-resistant latex cement slurries, providing crucial technical support for deep-earth oil and gas exploration.
